A friendly little town nestled down in the middle of vast wheat lands and miles of scab rocks & lakes.  Established in the late 1800's.  And became a township in the spring of 1890, and was then named Coulee City.  The town grew for the next several years until a 7 year drought brought financial collapse to the sleepy little town.  Rain fall was an average of less than 5 inches per year.  Crops withered and failed, people left for more suitable areas.  Bureau of Reclamation in 1903 announced the lands of the Columbia Basin were suitable for irrigation.  By 1930 the dreams of irrigation were set in motion with the construction of the famous Grand Coulee DamThe Grand Coulee Dam provides the area with enough water for irrigation through out the entire Columbia Basin.  Our main crops to the area includes, wheat, alfalfa, potatoes, corn, cattle & straw.  With the construction of the dam, also created numerous other man made lakes & recreation's to the area.  We have many types of wildlife native to our area as well as migratory animals & birds passing through.  You never know what you may find with just a short hike through our area.  But you will always find a stunning display of scenery & the friendliest people around.  To learn more about this area go the Coulee City & other surrounding web site links I have provided to the left of this page, or hyper linked in the photo name.  Some of the pictures have a hidden photo, to view hole your cursor over tht picture.
